The 2024 international A Level results from Cambridge and Pearson have been recently released, and WASHZ have continued its tradition of excellence, which has been established since the school’s founding.

HIGHLIGHTS

WASHZ remains steadfast in its dedication to the ethos of individualised education, which is integral to a holistic approach to education. The upper school provides an array of nearly 20 A Level courses spanning the Grade 11 and 12. This curriculum is designed to facilitate students with varying talents and interests in successfully applying to universities that align with their aspirations.

In 2024, the pupils of WASHZ once again delivered moments of brilliance. Nearly 50% of the candidates achieved the top grades of A/A*, with K. Li securing three A* and one A; A. Li achieved two A* and one A.

At the same time, breakthrough achievements were made in individual subjects as well thanks to the ernest cooperation of all teachers and pupils.

As an examination widely recognized around the globe, the A Level attracts over 800,000 candidates from across the world annually. In such a fiercely competitive environment, WASHZ has still achieved results that possess international competitiveness.

In additional to overall performance, several core subjects have also demonstrated impressive results. Notably, subjects such as Chemistry, Psychology and the EPQ are significantly ahead of the globe averages.

The pursuit of academic excellence stands as an enduring objective for WASHZ.

In the previous year, our pioneering group of pupils participated in the A Level examinations for the first time, securing a triumphant debut that has established a direction for our future learners to pursue and excel beyond. The accomplishments achieved this summer are a validation of the dedication and hard work of our entire faculty and student body throughout the year.

According to statistics, independent schools have been pacesetters for A Level results in the UK, with the proportion of A/A* exams close to 50% in 2024. WASHZ has achieved nearly 50% A/A* exams for two consecutives years, which is not only a reward for the efforts of all teachers and pupils but also proves that WASHZ has reached a first-class standard in education quality.

Additionally, Ariel Li and Julia Zheng have been honoured with the “COBIS Student Achievement Award” for their exceptional accomplishment and contribution.

What is CSAA？

The “COBIS Student Achievement Awards” are presented by the Council of British International Schools to recognize students who have made outstanding achievements or contributions in a particular aspect of school life.

The Council of British International Schools (COBIS) represents over 400 schools globally. With a presence in more than 80 countries, it ensures the quality of British education abroad. WASHZ is one of the 16 schools in China to be a COBIS member and has achieved the prestigious Patron’s Accreditation (only 2 schools in China have obtained it), indicating a commitment to providing high-standard education across all levels.

Outstanding academic performance is undoubtedly praiseworthy; however, it is the tenacity and the inquisitive spirit of intellectual rigor and adventurous inquiry displayed in the quest for eminence that are more precious. Such capabilities will serve as enduring assets, propelling them to attain more illustrious successes in their college education and subsequent life endeavors.

We are absolutely delighted to announce truly excellent A Level results for our leaving students. These students have been outstanding at our school and they now round off their time in Wycombe Abbey with incredibly pleasing A Level results. We are so proud of them and wish them all the best as they embark on their university careers.

As Kang Li, who has achieved A/A* in all his A Level exams and has been accepted into the biological sciences program at Imperial College London, has profoundly stated, “You are not always going to be perfect. Hard work, determination, and grit comes great success.”

We extend our congratulations once more to all who have successfully undertaken their A Level examinations; this accomplishment is a reflection of your hard work, and WASHZ is always proud of your success.

At the same time, we express our deep appreciation to the teachers and parents whose unwavering dedication has been instrumental. Your support and encouragement have allowed pupils to chase their aspirations with full attention. The exemplary achievements are the shared triumph of the entire WASHZ community.

At the graduation ceremony, Mr. Tig Mooney and several outstanding graduates took to the stage to speak. Now it seems, their encouragement and reflections were indeed the prelude to today’s achievements.
